To celebrate International Children’s Day on 1 June, St. Christopher’s Home hosted Baby Crawling & Topher Carrying Competition cum Child Sponsorship Scheme Launch Ceremony at Plaza Hollywood in Diamond Hill on 31 May, aiming to promote the message of caring for children to the public. This year’s event featured 10 rounds of baby crawling and Topher carrying races with a total of 120 spots available. The event proved highly popular with parents, attracting more than three times the number of applicants than available places. On the day, the participating infants and toddlers sported a variety of outfits—some even wearing distinctive ethnic costumes—creating a lively and spirited atmosphere.

Officiating guests at the competition included Ms. Wendy Chau Fung-mui, Assistant Director (Family and Child Welfare) of the Social Welfare Department; The Right Reverend Dr. Timothy Kwok, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Eastern Kowloon; Mr. Ricky Wong, MH, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Wheelock Properties; and Mr. Kwan Hang-sang, Vice-Chairman of the Council of the Home. Accompanied by the Home’s Chief Executive, Ms. Silvia Mak, the guests toured the “Infant and Toddler Development Corridor”—designed by Kiddie Square—prior to the start of the competition, gaining insights into the developmental needs of infants and toddlers through interactive games; they subsequently officiated at the ceremony by striking a gong.
