Walking Hand in Hand with Love: Successful Wrap-Up of Sponsor's Function featuring "Photosynthesis of Hope" Screening & Former Resident Sharing

Photosynthesis is one of nature’s most vital processes for sustaining life. Likewise, love and companionship can spark a form of “photosynthesis” within the human spirit. On Saturday, October 24, the Home hosted a special sponsor's function — a screening of the micro film Photosynthesis of Hope alongside a former resident sharing session. The gathering offered our sponsors a firsthand look into our work and a chance to show their care for the children, making for a heartwarming afternoon filled with laughter, emotion, and meaningful connection.

Nearly 100 sponsors, children, former residents, and honored guests attended the event, which opened with a warm welcome speech by the Home's Chief Executive, Ms. Silvia Mak. The children then took the stage to express their deepest gratitude through energetic dance and a lively band performance. Following the showcases, attendees enjoyed the screening of Photosynthesis of Hope, a micro film produced by the Home, witnessing how love can light up young lives.

Photosynthesis of Hope highlights the Home's various residential and non-residential services. Speaking after the event, Ms. Li, one of our sponsors, shared that the micro film introduced her to the Home’s Youth Co-Living Scheme—a program designed for young people aged 18 to 27 who previously received local residential child care. She found the initiative deeply meaningful, noting its crucial support for youth transitioning out of care at age 18. Another sponsor, Mr. Cheung, remarked with a smile that the film left a lasting impression, giving him a clearer picture of how our service units and Small Group Homes operate. He offered an encouraging word to the children: "No matter how tough things may seem right now, please believe that a bright future lies ahead!"

The donations raised through our Sponsorship Schemes are designated for providing accommodation, care, daily necessities, educational support, counseling, and development opportunities for children in adversity (including those who cannot receive adequate family care, have special needs, or come from low-income families), as well as supporting the Home's service operations and development, with a mission to develop their potentials and enable them to live a life of fullness.

As a sponsor, you will be invited to our annual sponsor's function to meet the children in perso. Sign up as a sponsor today with a monthly donation of $90, and help a child thrive and reach their full potential!
