A Fun Day at Ocean Park to Warm Children's Hearts
Sponsored by the Lions Club of Hong Kong Universal Fraternity, Peninsula Lions Club of Hong Kong, and Lions Club of Hong Kong New Territories East, Heart Link held a day trip to Ocean Park. A total of 100 children and family members enjoyed a delightful family time together. On that day, both adults and children participated in various rides and closely interacted with marine life, learning about conservation while enjoying precious moments together, creating unforgettable memories. We thank our sponsoring partners for their support in making this memorable trip to Ocean Park possible for the children.
About the Scheme
The Scheme is for all children of the Home. No individual child will be matched. The minimum sponsorship fee is $90 per month or $1,080 per year, at least one year commitment. Sponsors will be invited to join the Sponsor’s Functions. The Scheme's name, "Lok-lok" & "Yiu-yiu", meaning "happiness" in Chinese, is created by the Home's children to represent that all the children live happily under the care and support of the Home.
The fund raised will be designated for providing accommodation, care, daily necessities, educational support, counseling and development opportunities for children in adversity (i.e. who cannot receive adequate family care, have special needs and come from grassroots family) as well as supporting the Home's service operation and development, with a mission to develop their potentials and facilitate them to live a life of fullness.
As close as family, the housemother is the stronghold of life
Luke lacked parental care and was referred to the Home at age six. He was adopted in Form 3 and moved to the U.S. "IfI only focus on not having my parents around as a child, it would seem unfortunate. But under the Home's care, everystep I took felt meaningful."
Despite no blood ties, the love from the housemother made Luke feel at home. "She led by example and taught me howto treat others. During holidays, although I was the only one staying behind, she would make time with me as if family."
Luke fondly recalls the abundant resources provided by the Home- annual trips to Ocean Park, music lessons (he passedGrade 7 piano), tutoring, abacus classes, lion dancing, and even calligraphy taught by staff.
When the opportunity for overseas adoption came, Luke hesitated. "But with encouragement from the housemother andsocial worker - and their promise to welcome me back if things didn't work out - I found the courage to take the leap.
Luke returned to Hong Kong after graduating from university in the U.S. Now working at a multinational company here and keeping contact with his housemother, Luke is building an independent life and confidently walking his own path.

Ah Kwan's story
When Ah Kwan was six, her mother suffered from emotional problems. Lacking of proper guidance, Ah Kwan became rebellious and trusted in nobody. She vented her negative emotion by ramming her small head against a wall or prostrating herself on the floor for hours. With houseparent’s care and encouragement, Ah Kwan’s gloomy heart found serenity. Gradually, she opened herself and developed her interests in basketball playing and rock climbing. She now concentrates on her studies and wishes to take care of mother in the future.
Background
Sheng Kung Hui St. Christopher's Home, founded in 1935 by the late Bishop R.O. Hall in Taipo, began as an orphanage taking care of homeless children.
Throughout the years, upholding the Home’s vision and mission, it has been developed to provide various child-focused social services in Hong Kong. Currently, the Home is the largest non-governmental organization in Hong Kong that provides small group home service. In meeting the society’s evolving needs, apart from providing solely residential homes, the Home has extended to provide Foster Care Service, Nursery, Child Care Center, Neighbourhood Support Child Care Project, Clinical Psychological Service, Family Support Service, Services for Children with Special Needs and Youth Co-living Program, with the mission to create and sustain a caring environment for children and youth to grow, to develop potentials and to live a life of fullness.
Background
The Home has served 317 children receiving residential service, 386 from new arrival and low-income families, as well as 16 youths from Youth Co-living Program from January to December 2023. Among those receiving the Home's residential service, 216 children came from Small Group Homes and 101 from Foster Care Service. The following statistics was based on the 317 children who received the Home’s residential service.

Chan Ka- Shing, Policeman
I grown up at St. Christopher’s Home, so I decided to serve the needy children when I grown up. I never belittle the contribution of $50, because every little helps a mickle! Let’s help the future pillars of the society together. Their future depends on you!
Cheung Sze Man, Customer Services Manager
My husband was grown up in a broken family and made costly mistakes. Hence, we wish to affect the others’ lives by spreading love. A little contribution shows great love.
Chief Executive’s Words
“Pass on Love and Hope” !
Upholding Paul’s statement in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love”, S.K.H St. Christopher's Home (St. Christopher's Home) proactively passing on Love and Hope in the community.
Founded in 1935 by the late Bishop R.O. Hall in Taipo, St. Christopher's Home began as an orphanage taking care of homeless children. Currently, St. Christopher's Home is the largest non-governmental organization in Hong Kong providing small group home service for children who cannot receive adequate family care with the mission to create and sustain a caring environment for children and youth to grow, to develop potentials and to live a life of fullness. Christmas Gathering and Scholarship Award Ceremony 2024 for Non-Residential Service
Thanks to generous donations from a sponsor, the Home hosted a Christmas party in early December, bringing together children who receive community services and early childhood education to celebrate the arrival of Christmas. On this occasion, 29 awardees were awarded, acknowledging their efforts and achievements in academics, conduct, and holistic development over the past year.
Christmas Party
We invited sponsors to join and share the happiness of Christmas with our colleagues and children in the Home “Annual Christmas Party” again this year.Besides games and children’s Chinese dance performance, scholarship presentation ceremony was also held during the party to motivate children to study hard. Before the party came to the end, children turned into little Santa Clauses and distributed gifts to all children, sponsors and guests. Everyone was happy and full after the party.
Chung Tsz Wan "Not to be served, but to serve"
Chung Tsz Wan has started living in St. Christopher’s Home since he was a baby. Without much resource, he has learnt to treasure what he possesses. Being a positive person, he always reminds himself “Not to be served, but to serve”.Whenever he meets difficulties, he will not complain. He wants to share with people about his optimism, encouraging them to live enthusiastically. He fully expressed his gratitude to St. Christopher’s Home for giving 18 years of loving care and concern to him. “The profoundest experience in my life happened when I was 18 years old and had to leave St. Christopher's Home.” Chung said. As he has been living in the Home since he was a baby, he had no idea about the world outside. “At that time, I knew only Taipo. I even did not know where Kowloon was.” In recent years, Chung has well equipped himself to be valuable. When he was 18 years old, he initiated to find his father, repairing their relationship.
Chung encouraged children of St. Christopher’s Home to treasure whatever they have and to equip themselves while they are still in the Home. In addition, he used his motto “Not to be served, but to serve” to remind us. No matter we are in favourable circumstances or in time of adversity, we should keep the helping heart and face our lives positively.

During my growth and development, I came across a lot of difficulties. I could understand how it feels when you need help. Now I have two sons. I am trying my best to love them. And, I hope that children who are in need could be loved and cared for. “Lok-lok & Yiu-yiu” Sponsorship Scheme could help children in need in Hong Kong. It is very meaningful!
Dr. Au
Through activities, I experienced the acceptance, love and care between the children and their house-parents. Love lets them live in dignity and confidence. I am glad to donate. I also sincerely invite you to join the Sponsorship Scheme and give the children a bit of encouragement.

Lee Tin Chi Timothy (IT Manager)
My childhood was free from worry and anxiety. As a grown-up, I wanted to help the children in need and let them have a happy childhood. Inadvertently, I became a sponsor. Although life is hard for some children, I hope to give them my blessings – “when there's a will there's a way.”
Linda Chung visited Home’s Children
The kind-hearted Linda Chung has been an ambassador for St. Christopher’s Home since 2012, consistently supporting the Home with both the money and efforts over the years. On December 5, she visited the Home’s children with her adorable little daughter, Anika. Linda played board games with the children, told them stories, and helped decorate the Christmas tree for the children's home. She also distributed St. Christopher’s Home Love Chocolate gift boxes to the children, bringing festive warmth to the children.
Little Sum's story
Little Sum is 8-year-old. Two years ago, his mother was paralyzed because of a stroke and his father left home without a word. The radical changes smashed Sum’s little heart. One day, he lost control and snatched a chopper from the kitchen... After Little Sum was sent to St. Christopher’s Home, he learnt to control himself and be understanding. He now seizes every learning opportunity and promises to take care of his mother when he grows up.
Liu Ka Yin Venice, Clerical staff
Time really flies that I have become a sponsor for a few years already. My niece and I had even volunteered as promotors in an exhibition to promote the sponsorship scheme. I hope that children of the Home can overcome all the difficulties, pursue their own dreams and map out their good future. Life is full of laughters and colors!
Lok Yu Kim Ching Memorial Fund
My mother raised my brother and me up with her bare hands 52 years ago. As she really was not able to look after two kids, she could not but leave my brother in the good hands of St. Christopher’s Home. He stayed at the Home till he was four and returned home.” St. Christopher’s Home had helped our family, so we supported the sponsorship scheme under my mother’s name in return so as to help other children in need.
Mr. Brian Wong (Financial Planner)
Watching the cartoon "Daddy Long Legs" when I was a child, I fantasized about being Daddy Long Legs to help the needy. Now as a father of two, I wanted to set a role model for my children that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
Mr. Carson Cheng, Manager
When I was small, I had received gifts from foreign country at church. The warmth still lingers in my heart. Today, I am grateful that I am able to love and care for the needy. I hope that they can be other's help in the future.
Mr. Cheng Kit Ling, Jonathan (Engaged in business development)
I followed in my wife’s footsteps to become a sponsor in 2013. A group of sponsored children performed whole-heartedly to the audience. They were either from broken families or without parents. Without St. Christopher’s Home’s care, I believe the children would have walked through a tough and long-winding road. Having said that, support from others is much more important to them. Apart from giving support, sponsors can let more people know about the Home which can have access to more resources to help this group of children.
Mr. Cheng Lin How, Director
Children are the future pillar of the society. Apart from putting donation boxes at our shops, I have also joined the sponsorship scheme. I am happy and pleased to see them basic needs satisfied and growing up happily.
Mr. Cheung Cheung Kwong Shun (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer), whose family has become a sponsor since 2008.
It is “fate” that I became a sponsor and a volunteer of the Scheme. It is even a “blessing” that I can help the children in need.
Mr. Dominic Yung
I came across news about broken families a few years ago and eventually I have become a sponsor of the Home. I realized the daily lives of the sponsored children through participating in various sponsor's functions. I hope all the children can have a happy childhood in the Home.
Mr. Eric Chia, Director
Although as little as $50 a month, I believe that my donation can help the children live in a stable and secure environment.
Mr. Henry Ng, Accountant
It is fulfilling to be a sponsor and able to help the needy children with only a little amount of money. I highly recommend "Lok-lok & Yiu-yiu" Sponsorship Scheme.
Mr. Johnson Chan, Student
Small contribution can help children grow healthily and change their lives. It is a priceless blessing.
Mr. Ken Law (Technician)
I started donating to the Home in 2013, and became a sponsor two years ago when I got financially more stable. Quitting junior high school due to family burden, I hope my contribution will give the children more opportunities to learn.
Mr. Ko Wai Leung (Warehouse Operator)
I learned about the Home's services through Facebook and news, and have joined the sponsor's function that I know how the Home supports the children in need. As a Hongkonger, I feel more eager to help the children in adversity within our own community, so I keep on contributing, hoping that every little bit adds up.
Mr. Lam Chor Ngok (Educator)
My son grew up with “Lok-lok” and “Yiu-yiu” in the past 17 years. He became taller and the dolls smaller, yet our support is timeless. May the Home be Christ’s witness by devoting love and care to the needy children as always.
Mr. Leslie Mak (Teacher)
Most of the youngsters I know at work are much loved by their families with lots of learning resources. I support the Home as they offer a caring environment for children in need for decades. I also wish to exemplify that "it is more blessed to give than to receive" by my action.
Mr. Mak Chi Shing, Executive Officer
Joined the Sponsorship Scheme for 9 years. Happiness filled my heart since I joined the Sponsorship Scheme several years from now. I believe that both financial support and love from each one of us can bring satisfaction to the children. I hope more and more people can join hands to bring happy childhood to the children of the Home.
Mr. Richard Yam, Manager (Logistics)
The children are suffering from family problems, but they still look for better future. With little donation, they can receive love and care. I hope more people will join the Sponsorship Scheme.
Mr. So Hiu Tan Danny (Accountant)
I support the Scheme due to the Home’s good track record in helping needy children. The Home’s transparency on the usage of donation also earns my trust as the audited report and donor report are accessible on its website.
Mr. Wong Wai Ping (Architecture and Surveying Industry)
I joined the Scheme with my elder daughter in the BB Expo, and make further donation in the name of my wife and younger daughter this year as I believe the more supporters there are the greater the difference we can make together.
Ms Aouda Kwan, Secretary & Mr Jacky Lau, IT Officer
After joining the Sponsorship Scheme, we understood the true meaning of “Helping others is a source of happiness”. In Sponsor’s function, we got to know more about the children and realize how meaningful our donation is to them. Look forward to your participation and help the needy children together!
Ms. Astor Tsang, Nurse
As a nurse and a mother of a 6-year old girl, I deeply understand life is fragile and needs loving care. Little donation can create a better tomorrow for the needy children. Let’s contribute!

I love children and realize their need for parental care is just like my daughter’s. Through regular donation, I wish to let the Home's children know they are not alone as love is around them.
Ms. Danlia Liu (Jewelry Industry)
I volunteered to the Home when I was young and found their work very meaningful. Once grown up with my own career, I am more than happy to support the Home again by joining the Scheme together with my husband.
Ms. Debby Tang, Secretary
It is a blessing to be able to help the needy. I have joined the Sponsorship Scheme for two years. It is wonderful to meet the children in the sponsor’s function and to see them embrace a joyful life.
Ms. Fanny Chim, Housewife
Seeing the marvelous growth of the children, I look forward to seeing my son grow as the same. Let's contribute and give the children a wonderful life.
Ms. Ivory Pang, Executive Assistant
It is pathetic that children cannot be loved, do not have the resources to satisfy their daily needs, and cannot grow up healthily. So, I hope I could make a small effort and let them know that love is here. I believe it is more blessed to give than to receive!”
Ms. Joanne Wong, Manager
Joined the Sponsorship Scheme for 7 years. In sponsor’s function, I got the chance to visit the children and enjoyed the performances and games they prepared for us. I deeply felt their passion and am grateful that my small amount of donation may lead them to a brighter future.
Ms. Julia Mih, Insurance Agent
$50 a month can create a better tomorrow for the needy children. I was so impressed at the sponsor's functions. I absolutely believe that every dollar can help.
Ms. Kennie Ho (Principal)
News about child abuse is frequent. This is why children residing in the Home need assistance. 55 friends and relatives of mine joined the Sponsorship Scheme through my promotion in my birthday party. We all wish the children a better life.
Ms. Kitty Yip, Children painting tutor
This was my first time to meet the Home’s children, knowing each other in the sponsor’s function. It was so meaningful that I could convey my love and care to them. I will continue to support the Sponsorship Scheme.

Ms. Lee Siu Yim Simmy (Technician)

Ms. Lee Wing Fun (Teacher)
My daughter was born in 2010, when I decided to join the Scheme to share my love and blessing with the Home’s children. Noting that they grew up in a caring environment through the Scheme, I truly wish they can live a life of fullness in future.
Ms. Margaret Yip (Clerical worker)
After supporting needy children abroad for over 10 years, I realized that the underprivileged in Hong Kong is no less important, especially children. So I signed up as the Home’s sponsor when I know my small yet regular donation can benefit each of the Home’s children. Last year I even made a 3D Christmas card to give them festive surprise!
Ms. Natalie Chung (Freelancer)
I was sacked and my father fell ill in the pandemic. Yet I learned to cope with my moods by going outdoor and practicing sound therapy. I had never thought of cutting the sponsorship as I believed to give was not a matter of how much we had.
Ms. Ng Kit-bing, Social Worker; Siu Lok-yiu, Kindergarten student
We joined the scheme because it names the same as our daughter, Lok-yiu. Through sponsor's functions, we hope she will experience the joy of giving and learn that nothing should be taken for granted.
Ms. Pinky Chan, Housewife; Jason Wong, Primary student
This was my first time to meet the Home’s children, knowing each other in the sponsor’s function. It was so meaningful that I could convey my love and care to them. I will continue to support the Sponsorship Scheme.
Ms. Po Mi Ya (Speech Therapist)
The Home updated the sponsors like me on the children's status and use of funds through newsletter regularly. I also joined the sponsor's function which, letting me know more about the children and their living, gained my trust to support the Home continuously.
Ms. Sandra Chang, Marketing & Communications Consultant
Stop asking "why" you should do so, simply say "why not" and start making a difference by providing the children with a second chance in life because they deserve it!
Ms. Sandy Chiu, Financial Planner
Children are our future. I had no hesitation to join the Sponsorship Scheme when I received the promotion leaflet. I truly wish the unfortunate children live a life of fullness.
Ms. Susan Lo (Property Management)
Time flies, I have joined "Lok-lok" & "Yiu-yiu" Sponsorship Scheme for eight years. I am very pleased that I can use a small amount of donation to support children of the Home. I wish they can stay healthy and go for their dreams.
Ms. Tracy Lam
I was pleased to join the sharing with my husband and son. The Home’s children were polite and became the role models for my son. We wish more people to join the Sponsorship Scheme so that more resources could be allocated to the needy children.
Ms. Wong Yuen Ning (Paediatric Nurse)
At the hospital, I witnessed that children from residential homes had to stay in the ward due to various family issues, and this may affect their growth. As a sponsor, I had the chance to join the sponsor's functions and spend joyful moments with the Home's children.
Children need love - please join us to help brighten their lives!
MTM Care & Love Foundation
MTM Care & Love Foundation raised fund at its shops and sponsored children’s summer activities and the sponsorship scheme. “The true beauty is disseminated from the heart. The true happiness is obtained from sharing. Sharing from heart gives children a beautiful and happy childhood.”
Multiple Intelligences Award Ceremony
Under the three years’ support from Cheung Hing Wah Charitable Foundation, the Home’s children obtained the chance to develop multiple intelligences and pursue their dreams. Taking the opportunity of the Award Ceremony, children demonstrated their talents and shared their accomplishments with the sponsors by performing on stage.
Nagomi Pastel Art with the Home’s Children
This was the first sponsor’s function of the year held on July 30 with an attendance of about 40 sponsors and their families. They were happy to learn more about the Home through service video broadcast, QA game as well as the Home’s old boy and Love Ambassador Jason Chan’s personal sharing.
Small Group Homes’ children took charge of the QA game as MCs to review the Home’s history and services with the participants. Afterwards, Jason was accompanied by his daughter Abigail to recall his good old days at the Home and promote “Lok-lok” & “Yiu-yiu” Sponsorship Scheme in hopes of nurturing Abi’s kind heart at an early age.
“Seeing so many parents attending with their children today, it’s indeed important for us to set good examples for the younger generation. I also encourage Abi to care about the people around by action no matter how small it is,” said Jason, “With the support of you all, I wish more children can be as blessed as I was living at the Home.”
The spotlight was then turned on Nagomi Pastel Art. With the theme of love and hope, participants followed the instructor to create their artworks together with the Home’s children. The fun went on as they brought home not only their drawings but also the art supplies to practice.
“Thank you for organizing this meaningful event. Miles had a great time! It was his first time doing this kind of painting and he loved it. It was very thoughtful that the children can take the materials home with them,” said Elaine, the Little Sponsor Miles' mother.

S+ Summit cum Expo 2025
The Home once again participated in the two-day "S+ Summit cum Expo 2025" organized by Hong Kong Council of Social Service. Our gratitude are extended to all corporate partners and benevolent individuals who visited our booth and showed their support. At this expo, we highlighted our Youth Co-living Program "T-Lodge," demonstrating how we provide affordable and safe transitional housing for youths who are residential child care service leavers and to facilitate their personal development. We hope to attract kind-hearted property owners to support this initiative!
The Home has always valued partnerships and strived to connect with various sectors of the community. Over the years, we have been fortunate to receive tremendous support and resources from numerous corporate partners who join us to enhance the well-being of children and youth. In the 2024/25 fiscal year, we successfully nominated 17 companies for the "Caring Company" scheme.
Please contact us on 3756 4488 or email: fundraise@skhsch.org.hk for collaboration opportunity.
Safeguard the Sea - Green at To Tau Wan
Besides environmental protection, this event enhanced the sponsors understanding and interaction with the Home's children through games and shoreline cleanup. Nearly 90 people signed in and collected over 33.8 KG of trash together.

Sharing by the Old Boys and Girl
In view of the stable epidemic situation, donor gathering was held on August 21 after pending for two years, and an attendance of about 80 sponsors and Love Junior families was recorded. Service video broadcast, fun quiz game, as well as sharing by the Home’s children, old boys and girl were arranged to let the participants know more about our development, children living in Small Group Homes as well as their growth.
In the sharing session, Keith Chan, the Home’s old boy, thanked for the houseparents’ teaching so much that he initiated an afternoon tea charity campaign in his restaurant last year, encouraging customers to donate to the Home. Old girl, Manci Man was also grateful for the happy childhood in the Home. Manci made cookies as gift set item in celebration of the Home’s 85th Anniversary last year, and helped promote the Sponsorship Scheme as a donor. Recently graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Sam Yuen said the Mary Tam Fund, which he applied as the Home’s old boy, provided him with the resource to take private contemporary dance class so he could keep up to the standard despite the pandemic.
The Home’s children were invited to be the master of ceremony, perform rope skipping and make handicrafts as souvenirs for the event, showcasing their talents and bringing joy to the participants. Loads of lovely blessing cards written and drawn by the participants were received and delivered to the Home’s children to share joy and hope with one another.
Shine on Stage
Love knows no boundaries. Thanks to the donations of our sponsors, the Home's children were encouraged by our staff to try and learn in many different ways, just as parents do in nurturing their children. On October 5, we organized the sponsor's function, "Shine on Stage", to enable the Home's children and the sponsors to share their talents on stage, and to let the sponsors care for our children in person.
More than 120 sponsors, the Home's children, old boys and girls as well as guests attended the event. The event was kicked off with a welcoming speech by the Home's Chief Executive, Ms. Silvia Mak, followed by a short video show and a quiz game to enhance the participants' understanding of the Home. A total of six groups of sponsors and the Home's children performed on stage to demonstrate their learning outcomes through dancing, playing musical instruments, singing and balloon twisting.
The Home's old girl, Manci, acted as the MC and led two old boys, Will and Issac, to share their living experiences in the Small Group Homes and foster home, such as the house parents and staff who took good care of them, the precious learning opportunities, the spiritual support and scholarship, etc., showing their gratitude through words. Ice, an old girl working in F&B industry, also brought party food to the event that allowed the sponsors to mingle with the Home's children as well as old boys and girls while enjoying the catering.
More than 50 blessing cards written by the sponsors were collected and have been delivered to the Home's children, some of the excerpts are as follows:
I am very happy to be with you, to see you all doing so well, and to feel the love and support from the Home ????.
May you believe in love, no matter what challenges you face.
Your experiences will enrich your lives and be a source of nourishment as you grow.

Despite no blood ties, the love from the housemother made Luke feel at home. "She led by example and taught me how to treat others. During holidays, although I was the only one staying behind, she would make time with me as if family."
Luke fondly recalls the abundant resources provided by the Home- annual trips to Ocean Park, music lessons (he passed Grade 7 piano), tutoring, abacus classes, lion dancing, and even calligraphy taught by staff.
When the opportunity for overseas adoption came, Luke hesitated. "But with encouragement from the housemother and social worker - and their promise to welcome me back if things didn't work out - I found the courage to take the leap.

Auntie Cui not only asked us to apologize, but also to explain and understand why we were wrong.”Auntie Cui’s teaching was like a seed sown at his heart. And the seed started to bud when Lung entered secondary school. “I flew my temper the other day and I took the initiative to apologize to Auntie Cui few hours afterwards. I was also determined not to speak foul language at the Home and with Auntie Cui.” Lung had left the Home at the age of 18. He has kept this promise up to this date.Lung did not obtain good result in the HKCEE examination. Inspired by Lung’s tall and stout body, Auntie Cui encouraged him to apply for different kinds of qualifications and equip himself with special skills. She was not only isolated in school due to her unusual background, but also badly treated by her step mother during home leave.

Embraced by the caring room-mates and supportive house-parents around, Manci felt loved and safe here, and kept in touch with them even till now. Such positive bonding helped build her sense of identity and self-esteem in pursuit of dreams.
A diploma holder of hotel management, Manci climbed up the ladder by completing part-time degree and master programs while working full-time, and developed her career in overseas property investment. Regardless, her creative vibe stayed unchanged. After 8-year ceaseless learning, Sum is doing a part-time job as a clown now. “To be successful, you must keep on learning new skills. The house mother often encouraged Tommy to pursue his goal, and treated him as if he was her own son by accompanying him to look for a public examination venue. With this strong backing, Tommy dared to repeat Form 5, matriculated to an associate degree, started a bachelor's degree in social work, and succeeded to become a social worker finally. With continuous care and guidance from the Home’s house-parents and social workers, Wing-ching re-built her hope and confidence in life. She was also enlightened on studying in university. “The Home was well-equipped. It offered me a tranquil, safe and relaxing environment to concentrate on my study.”

Story of Yeung-yeung
Yeung-yeung was placed into a foster family when she was still a newborn as her mother was a drug abuser and her father was often absent. The Foster Care Worker, Miss Lee, was responsible for matching Yeung-yeung with a suitable foster home and trying hard to explain foster care service details to Yeung-yeung’s parents. Building up good working relationship with both birth and foster parents would greatly help family reunification in future.
The maternal love motivated Yeung-yeung’s mother to stop taking drugs. She had passed blood test and was allowed to take care of Yeung-yeung for overnight home stay instead of normal day leave. However, the unstable marital relationship badly disturbed the mother that she relapsed into drug use. Once the mother flaked out and failed to bring the little girl back to the foster home, out of contact for hours, the foster mother called police for Yeung-yeung’s sake.
To ensure healthy development for Yeung-yeung, not only did Miss Lee closely contact the foster mother to let her understand the difficulties Yeung-yeung’s mother faced, she also collaborated with the medical social worker and the social worker of the anti-drug abuse team to manage the case with respective expertise. Through home visit, Miss Lee shared Yeung-yeung’s updates with her birth mother, encouraging her to stay away from drugs, and helped explore the family’s potential resources, such as the maternal grandparents’ assistance in child care, recognition and financial support from the paternal family, and speech therapy referral for Yeung-yeung.
Despite all the challenges, given the birth parents’ aspirations and the resources around, Yeung-yeung was reunified with her family after receiving three-year foster care. A few months later, Miss Lee ran into Yeung-yeung’s family in MTR and was heart-melted to see how the parents protected their kid with their bodies in the crowded compartment - a happy ending of the foster care journey!

(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
April 15
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
Emma 15
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
Eminem(別名)18 歲 - 耀盛兒童之家
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
(Chinese version only)
